Oh, and I saw Modest Mouse last night; I was planning on going to see Kinky because their live shows are  i n c r e d i b l e  but I got invited to MM and decided to check out something I had yet to see. Pleasantly surprised.

Proclaiming Barracuda‘s release yesterday as just in time, URB believes Kinky‘s “resonance in the American mainstream culture’s consciousness is long overdue” and I couldn’t agree more. I’m getting through my first listen and this is the kind of album that should bring music-lovers of various walks of life together, albeit at a happenin’ party, but I support that 🙂 When I caught their show at The Mayan last March, I was fresh from SXSW, and found this show to be completely re-invigorating and the energy surpassed anything I had known before. And I didn’t even know one song. The music gets in your body and takes over; the band also tends to improvise and brings a punk philosophy at least to its electronica sound.

Since we are kinda in the range of Latin sounds, how excited do you think I was to see RH+ on XLR8R‘s  weekly newsletter sent out today? You can read the review I did of their new album Quintana Roo, you should scope out “Perry Frankie Miller Gajardo” and you shall nab their label’s 20 free iTunes playlist here

My head is spinning from a crazy day but I wanted to make a post tonight, so here it is. I promise lots of mp3s and fashion goodies coming once I get out of class tomorrow. But I leave you with this hilarious/disturbing food for thought:

What do you do to calm yourself down?

I imagine that Morgan Freeman is stroking my hair and telling me not to worry.

PS: the band is in LA this Tuesday night at the Echoplex
